OUR HISTORY

St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1922.

We have had many great leaders for this wonderful church. Rev Quillen from 1925-26; Rev Boyd from 1926-30; Rev Thompson ( founder of the MBA Morris Bevevolent Association of Ponchatoula) from 1930-59; Rev Larry from 1959-62; Rev Herbert Garner from 1962-1996; Rev Shelvin from 1996-2001 and our current Pastor Clarence Williams Jr from 2002 until present.

We thank God for Pastor Williams, for his dedicated leadership, and spiritual guidance. His Motto is " A church growing in the word together".

Our oringinal church was built with lumber donated by Mrs. Rathborn and the name was also given by her. St Joseph Baptist church is the only black baptisit church that was not split from the oldest Baptist church in Ponchatoula. The orignial church site was on Blackberry St ( land donated by the Rathbornes).

In 1966 we moved the original church to Murray Rd ( the present site)

We give all praise to God for the Journey that we gone through to make this wonderful church.
